Thank you.. thank you.. thank you.. Finally, some good news amidst all of the endless bad news coming out of the airline travel industry. It took Congress (the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee) to get it done… permanently. No thanks to the airline industry of course. As a matter of fact, there was even speculation that some domestic airlines would want this overturned just so they could charge passengers extra to sit in ‘no-phone sections’. Is that even surprising in light of all the new a la carte pricing we are seeing?

According to MSNBC.com, and I quote, “Cell phone calls on airplanes in flight are not only unsafe, they’re obnoxious and they should be permanently banned.” The issues raised ran from a concern for using cell phone cameras to take pictures of sensitive parts of the airplane to people loudly talking and even worse, talking about ‘insensitive’ topics (like sex).

“I do believe this is important that we don’t make what is already a crowded and difficult environment for the traveling public and flight attendants worse by allowing cell phone use in-flight”, said Rep. Peter DeFazio. Bravo! Just say no to cell phones on planes!
